Neodymium pot magnets in a steel cup. Powerful NdFeB neodymium magnets are mounted inside a metal cup. This steel housing protects the neodymium magnet from impacts and vibration and increases its pulling force. To achieve optimal holding strength, the pot magnet must be in direct contact with the metal surface. Even a thin sheet of steel or a layer of paint can reduce the magnet’s pulling force very quickly.
The holding force acts only on the open side of the magnet, as the steel cup shields the other side. You can also find ferrite pot magnets with lower pulling force in our range.
A key feature of pot magnets in a cup is that, due to the lack of a hole (mounting option), they are often installed by seating (nesting) them into drilled holes. Their maximum operating temperature is 80°C. If your application requires higher temperature resistance, you can check our Samarium Cobalt pot magnets.
